He's turning forty this year but it wouldn't surprise me to run into him at a park or playground. Young at heart, I guess.

Got your post and all I can say is wow!! It looks to me like he wasn't convicted so you can't say that he "is" anything. In the spirit of free speech I'll show your post but I have to delete some of the specifics in fairness to BAS.

I've known Brett for 4 years and let me just say, he has nothing to hide, and despite rumors and those who wish you drag him through the mud, he continues to stand up for the background acting community and insists on saying it like it is.
As Far as that nasty rumor about the whole "Boston Legal" incident goes... I was there and I witcnessed everything. Brett was unfortunately the victim of a over-reacting extra who didn't have her facts straight.
Brett had just started Background beat and was handing out a stack of business cards. While passing out cards one dropped into this girls open bag that was setting on the floor (open for all to see) as he was reaching down to get it, the girl saw and assumed he was going through her things. She immediatly reported him for trying to steal from her.
I was not able to come to his defense as I was ushered to the set before he was repremanded by the PA and told to leave the set. When I came back to the holding area, he was gone. I did not hear the reasons for his leaving until much later when it was too late to do anything about it. I know I wasn't the only person who witcnessed "the truth". but people like a good gossip story, and that is what this little "Boston Legal" story has turned into.
As far as the website goes...(backgroundbeat.com) Brett created it to give Extra's/Background actors a platform to share their experiences, information about upcoming work and empower the background community by giving them a voice where they unfortunately in most cases are not allowed to have one.
Mr Hardaway is welcome to have his opinion about HollywoodOS, about Brett,and about the site, etc. That's great. It is however a private site and as such we can moderate it and/or post whatever we want. We also have a legal right to decide who can and can't access.
Because he's violated our policies he's been banned from the site, and to continue to use it without the consent of the owner is illegal.
Brett does not take a commission or fees from anyone who wants to advertise their services. If he finds that they are offering a great deal on photos, acting classes, websites for personal promotion,,,etc then he encourages people to check it out.
As far as Hollywood OS goes, well I've never seen anymone from that company really dispute the infromation that has been put on the website. All they seem to want to do is harrass Brett and start nasty rumors or dig up old stories about him. In other words, just deflect the negative attention they're getting instead of addressing the background community about their questionable business practices.
Hey #1Redhead. Thanks for the post. It was very articulate and gracious. Unlike your partner Brett, I will not delete or modify posts that disagree with me.
You need to re-evaluate whom you put your trust in. Maybe Brett is just misunderstood and trouble just happens to follow him? Maybe the sky is green?
Brett is a child. His words and his actions more than support that. If he doesn't like Hollywood O/S he should just state his personal opinion and move on. He has no right to delete and modify posts made by honest users who have had different experiences and results. He reeks of dishonesty by peppering every conversation with trash talk about that company.
A majority of the forum users, myself included, feel he should be banned from administration and someone like you should take it over. Someone level headed. To us, he hasn't proved himself to be a mentally stable person in his personal or online life. You should do us all a favor and relieve him of his duties at BG Beat.
Nothing I've said or done is illegal; Far from it. I know a little something about the law. When you are running an open forum anyone is permitted to join. My account is still active in your system but my posting ability has been removed because I hold Brett accountable for his lies and exaggerations. If you really believe in open discussion and honesty you should reinstate my posting privileges. If you don’t, keep things as they are.
Just so you know. I've sent him private emails asking him to just be fair. I’ve asked him to put his personal grudges aside and be an adult. He would rather play the joker. He thought his power as administrator would be enough to stop users like me from exposing what he was doing. Obviously he was wrong, very wrong.
Who knows? Maybe Hollywood O/S did things in the past I don't know about. The problem is, is that Brett is a proven liar and has no credibility. All I can go on is my own and dozens of others experiences.
Bottom line is in 2007 people are happy with the service they get from Hollywood O/S. If Brett really cared about the background community he should be glad that any problems that apparently existed in the past must have been fixed.
The guy is just bad news Redhead. Get as far away as you can from him. I repeat, he is a proven liar and 90% of the forum members don't believe a word he says.
How can she say that Hollywood OS hasn't defended themsleves? I'm sure they probably did and then BAS had all of their posts deleted just like he did to ours!!!!

You may already know this; but I found our dear friend on IMDB. However; for some strange reason, he is going by his middle name instead of his last. Hmmm....I could not possibly think of anything in his past to motivate him to try and hide.
What else is interesting is I responded to the only post in his message board. It read:

NO WAY! Is this the same Brett? How could he get such a comment from a CD, when he has presented himself to us, time and time again, as being in such good and knowledgeable standing with them? I..Am..Shocked.
Uh; yeah, I am being completely sarcastic. Now; seriously, Mr. D Hardaway, with my experience with him I could have wrote this blog just as true word for word down to the spam mail you showed. One more thing though; immediately after I had joined Background Beat, miraculously, my junk mail increased drastically. Perhaps that's how he pays for the site, selling our info to mailing lists.
You are doing a great service here. Just as HOS does a great service for BG's. The only reason I'm not with them now is that I hit such a dry spell financially, I had to send my wife and kids back to Michigan where family could make sure they wouldn't risk being homeless. Even now; my wife works 2 jobs to keep me on track. Actually; I should really be looking for gigs right now, but I had to attempt something to help bring this guy down. God forbid; could you imagine the damage he could do to others struggling in this industry if he keeps on excelling and his words become more influential.
Hang in there Tueton. I hope things turn around for you real soon.
Stories like yours is one of the main reasons I decided to start this blog. I can imagine how many people have read his bullshit, not signed up with HOS and either gave up or went hungry.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying HOS is the "golden ticket" to acting jobs but what I am saying is that it is a valuable asset to have in your arsenal as a background artist. Based on my experience, HOS and LA casting post the most jobs available that aren't gobbled up by calling services.

He's a beaten dog. He's never come up against a situation like this. Up until now he's been able to manipulate the truth by eliminating and modifying posts that expose him for what he is.
